Supporting Student Transitions Through Peer Mentoring

Context: University first-year students often struggle with the transition to higher education.
Project: Laura led the evaluation of a peer-mentoring intervention designed to improve adjustment, engagement, and retention.
Outcome: Significant increases in student confidence, belonging, and academic persistence were reported. Findings informed wider university mentoring programs.

Enhancing Teacher Wellbeing Through Coaching Interventions

Context: Teacher burnout rates in Wales and the UK are rising.
Project: Laura co-developed and evaluated coaching interventions aimed at promoting teacher resilience and retention in primary and secondary schools.
Outcome: Teachers reported greater job satisfaction, emotional resilience, and intention to stay in the profession.

Raising Awareness of Eating Disorders Among Healthcare Professionals

Context: Early intervention for anorexia nervosa relies heavily on healthcare professional awareness.
Project: As part of her PhD and subsequent research, Laura worked with healthcare teams to identify knowledge gaps and develop targeted educational materials.
Outcome: Recommendations were incorporated into policy discussions at the All Wales Eating Disorders Special Interest Group.
